Welcome to Travel Records and today I will talk about Dubai, a city located in the united Arab Emirates known for very tall buildings, luxury shopping and beautiful beaches. Like every other beautiful cities, Dubai is a travel destination for many for holidays, Leisure and more. Before we explore the city let us first talk about its history briefly.
Brief history of Dubai
According to Wikipedia, Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and capital of the Emirate of Dubai. The city was established in the 18th century as a small fishing village. The city grew rapidly in the 21sth century into a cosmopolitan metropolis with a focus on tourism and hospitality.
Dubai is located in the eastern part of the Arabian peninsula on the coast of the Arabian Gulf. It aims to be the business hub of western Asia. As many may wonder, the city is growing very fast and is now a major global transport hub for passengers and cargo. The economy relies on revenues from trade, tourism, aviation, Real Estate, and financial services. Dubai is known as a major oil producer. Oil production contribute just less than 5% to the Emirates GDP. The city has a population of over 3.4 million.

Cultural Aspect of Dubai
It will interest you to know that Dubai is the most liberal of the seven Emirates, but it is still an Arab Emirate and mush of its culture is influenced by Islam. The influence of Arab and Islamic culture on its architecture, music, attire, cuisine, and lifestyle is very prominent as well. In Dubai, Muslims observe prayer five times every day. Dubai is also known for its nightlife. Clubs and bars are found mostly in hotels because of the liquor laws.
Things you must not do in Dubai
- Drinking alcohol in public places is not allowed
- Criticizing the royal family can get you into trouble
- Do not disrespect the local laws of the country
- Dubai city ruled by Islamic laws has it dress code and you must not dress to kill (lol). Mainly for women you must not expose sensitive parts of your body when in a public place.
- No kissing or hugging in public. It will land in serious trouble
- Filming people without their permission is illegal.
Tourism
Dubai is the fourth most visited city in the world the city had 7.28 million overnight visitors in 2021. This figure is lower compared to previous years due to the covid-19 restrictions like in 2016 about 15 million people visited the city.
The Burj khalifa
The Burj khalifa is the tallest building in the world. It is an 830 meters tall tower that dominates the skyscraper filled skyline.
Dubai miracle Garden
The garden has a total of 45 million flowers. This is a nice place to visit. It is located in the district of Dubai land, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was launched on February 2013. The garden occupies an area of about 72,000 square metres and is the world’s largest natural flower garden.
Transportation system
The public transportation system in Dubai consists of trams, Dubai metro, ports and water travel, taxis and roads. The road and transport authority (RTA) is the operator of the entire transportation system. The Dubai metro is considered to be one of the most modern and cost-effective public transportation system in the world. The Metro consist of two lines; the green line and the red line. Dubai Global village combines cultures of over 90 countries across the world and is located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed road Dubai. It is one of the largest tourism, shopping, leisure, and entertainment project in the world. It has recorded over 5 million visitors every year. The village is situated in an area of 17,200,000 sq ft.
The Dubai Mall
Located on downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The mall is a shopping mall in Dubai and is the second largest mall in the world and the 26th largest shopping mall by Cross leasable area. It has a total retail floor area of 502,000 square metres. Opened on November 2008 and has over 1,200 stores. this is a great place to visit when moving to the UAE. The mall is adjacent the tallest building in the world Burj khalifa.
The Palm Jumeirah
The Palm Jumeirah is one of the most ambitious engineering structures of all time. It is a man-made Island which take the shape of a palm tree. About 50 miles to the coastline. It is known for its luxury hotel, Global restaurants,posh apartments towers.it also features aqua venture water park travel on the island on monorail.
The Burj Al Arab
It is the only seven star hotel in the world. not only that, it’s also the most luxurious hotel. The Burj Al Arab was built in 1999 for 1 billion on a man-made Island. it features great restaurants, wellness, rooms and suites.
